PURSe Portlets v. 1.0.1 Released

The PURSe portlets are JSR-168 compliant and are intended as a reuseable interface to PURSe to be used by JSR-168 compliant portal frameworks such as GridSphere, uPortal, Liferay, etc. These portlets are ideal for the Grid portal administrator who needs to provide a mechanism by which portal users can request and be granted Grid security credentials, without exposing portal users to the hassle of managing their credentials themselves.

GCE Portals Workshop 2006

The GCE 2005 portals workshop at SuperComputing 2005 in Seattle was a success. Many papers were submitted and peer-reviewed and will be published in a special issue of Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience.

The second annual GCE workshop will be a full two day workshop November 12-13th held in conjunction with SC06.

CALL FOR PAPERS due, September 11th. The results of the Workshop will be published in a special edition of (>>http://www.cc-pe.net/journalinfo/) Concurrency Practice and Experience.

GCE 2006 topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Applications of Grid Portals and Gateways (including User Portals, Application Portals, Science Gateways, Education Portals, User interface/usability studies).
  • Design and architecture of Grid portals and gateways including
  • Tools and frameworks that make developing Grid Portals and gatweaways easier
  • Portal security models and solutions.
  • Middleware solutions in support of portals and Gatwways including: Web Services; WSRF Services; Grid technologies; Databases; Workflows; WSRP and other standards; Web services in support of Portals and Gateways.
  • Interaction with Commodity and Commercial tools such as Perl, Python, Matlab, and Mathematica.
  • Interaction with Desktop aplications.

Java Content Repository API (JSR 170)

This looks like an interesting technology to use for building content management systems within portals. Using these tools, you can easily create tree structured content management systems (think XML & DOM), that give a lot of extra functionality, such as searching, indexing, etc, for free.

GCE Portals Workshop 2006

The GCE 2005 portals workshop at SuperComputing 2005 in Seattle was a success. Many papers were submitted and peer-reviewed and will be published in a special issue of Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience.

There will be a repeat of the workshop at SuperComputing 2006 in Tampa, FL. If you are interested in helping out with the workshop organization or getting involved in the technical program committee, speak up.

This workshop is held in conjunction with SuperComputing 2005 and will focus on projects that are adopting portal technologies and services.
